Description

Longburgh Farm and the adjoining barn, located in Burgh by Sands, consist of a late 17th-century farmhouse and a barn dated 1767, which features the initials "R" for John Robinson above its entrance. The farmhouse has whitewashed clay walls and a graduated greenslate roof with a coped gable and kneeler on the left side, along with brick chimney stacks. The barn is constructed of whitewashed brick with stone dressings and also has a graduated greenslate roof.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with six bays, while the barn, which is to the right and has a higher roofline, consists of eight bays. The farmhouse features three-panel double doors set in a painted architrave with a moulded triangular pediment, as well as Yorkshire sash windows with glazing bars, including a small fire window on the first floor to the right. The barn has large double plank doors in a quoined surround with a shallow keyed segmental arch. The left wall of the barn is blank on the ground floor, while the upper level includes five sash windows with glazing bars set in shallow segmental brick arches, a slatted window to the right, and a loft door above.

In the early 19th century, a later tenant named James Marton operated a malting business from the barn, which was also referred to as a brewery during that time.
