Description
Eden Mount consists of a terrace of nine houses, built in the 1840s. The buildings feature Flemish bond brickwork, with most houses displaying light headers, except for Nos. 2, 3, and 4. They sit on a chamfered plinth, with all dressings made of calciferous sandstone, and have V-jointed quoins on the end houses, along with sill bands and an eaves cornice. The roofs are made of graduated greenslate, some with skylights, and are hipped on the end houses, featuring original shared ridge chimney stacks.
Each house is two storeys tall and consists of two or three bays. No. 1 has a four-bay return on St George's Crescent, while No. 8 has a two-bay return on Cromwell Crescent, with an additional two-bay extension that is now No. 1 Cromwell Crescent. The houses are arranged to follow the slope of the hill, resulting in a roof line that is on three different levels. Each house has either a left or right panelled door, or one that is central, with an overlight in a prostyle Ionic porch; No. 1 features fluted columns, while No. 8 has a stone architrave without a porch. The sash windows, most of which have glazing bars, are set in stone architraves, and No. 8 includes a full-height canted bay window in its two-bay return.
The interiors boast moulded plaster ceiling cornices, white marble fireplaces, internal shutters, and panelled doors.
