Description

The Lodge, formerly known as Rose Hill Lodge, is a house built between 1834 and 1835, the same period as the nearby Rose Hill, now the Henry Lonsdale Home, for John Smith Bond. The building features dressed red sandstone walls, a slate roof, and a stone chimney stack. It is a single-storey structure with three bays. The central gabled porch projects and is supported by four squared columns with simple moulded capitals. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are surrounded by plain surrounds and fitted iron bars. There is a canted bay window on the east gable and a contemporary extension at the rear.
