Description
Orchard House is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, located on Wood Street in Botcherby, Carlisle. The building features Flemish bond brickwork set on a chamfered plinth, with all dressings made of painted stone. It has a greenslate roof with a sandstone ridge, where the bottom course of slates overlaps sandstone slates, and is topped with end brick chimney stacks. The house is two storeys high and has two bays, with a single-depth plan that includes a rear contemporary outshut. The entrance is marked by a central top-glazed panelled door, which is framed by a flush quoined surround. The windows are sash style, set within wooden reveals and are topped with segmental brick arches, complete with moulded sills. Although the interior has not been inspected, the cobbled area in front of the house is noted as an interesting feature.
