Description
The statue of "Spring" is located approximately 20 meters southwest of the Manor House in Ashby St. Ledgers. It dates from the early 18th century and is made of limestone. The statue depicts a female figure adorned with a garland of flowers, symbolizing "Spring." It stands on a moulded ironstone plinth but is badly eroded and has one leg missing. This statue is part of a group representing "The Seasons," which includes a central figure of "Atlas." These statues are noted to have belonged to a formal garden layout from around 1700 at the Manor House.
