Description

Lawnhill Farmhouse is a 17th-century house constructed from coursed squared ironstone with a slate roof and flanking stone stacks, designed in a T-plan. The building has two storeys, a cellar, and an attic, featuring three bays. The central window, which replaces a former doorway, has a keystoned lintel and a two-light wooden casement. On either side, there are three-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods, and a small stone-framed window, which is blocked, is located in the right bay. The first floor also has three-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods. A 20th-century dormer with a metal casement is present, and the gable ends are coped with kneelers. The moulded stone stacks add to the architectural detail. On the left side, there is a two-light stone mullioned window to the cellar, and the ground and first floors feature three-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods. The attic has a 20th-century two-light wood casement window with a wood lintel.

At the rear, there is a 17th-century wing made from similar materials, which is one storey and one bay, with a coped gable end and kneelers. An extension to the right, likely from the 18th century but heightened in the 20th century, is also built from similar materials and consists of one storey and an attic with three bays. This extension includes a doorway with a wood lintel and a plank stable door in the left bay, a two-light casement window with a wood lintel to the right, and another doorway in the right bay with a wood lintel and plank stable door. The interior has not been inspected.
