Description

The Nook is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 18th century, with older origins and some alterations from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a thatched roof, along with brick stacks at the ends and ridge. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a four-window range.

To the right of the centre, there is a door with pointed arched panels and a moulded stone surround. On the left, a bay window features a 24-pane sash window at the front and 8 panes on the sides. There are 32-pane sash windows on the ground floor to the left and right, each with stone sills and wooden lintels. Similar sash windows are found on the first floor to the left and right, with 24-pane sashes to the left and right of the centre. A straight joint is visible to the left of the bay window, indicating that the left bay is likely the earliest part of the house, which includes a double-chamfered 1-light attic window in the gable. The building has quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers.

At the rear right, there is a two-storey extension, likely from the late 18th century, featuring a catslide roof. The rear of the house has old leaded casement windows with wooden lintels. Inside, the property includes a stone-flagged hall, stop-chamfered spine beams, an open fireplace, and old cupboards with H and HL hinges.
