EDGCOTE SP54NW 5/116 Brock House and Keepers 04/02/69 Cottage with attached kitchen garden walls approx. 0.5 mile SE of Edgcote House (Formerly listed as Edgcote Nursery Garden)

Kitchen garden walls and cottages. C18. Squared coursed limestone, ironstone and brick. Rectangular enclosure, the north wall adjoined on each side by cottage with pedimented temple front. Garden walls are red and blue brick with stone coping faced on outside with limestone and ironstone. Entrance is plain opening to right of centre. Cottage to right (Brock House). Squared uncoursed limestone and ironstone, with limestone ashlar front. Artificial stone slate roof. L-plan. 2 storeys, 2 bays. Pedimented temple front with 2 Tuscan columns and 2 half columns. Plain recess behind. Entrance at side with stone lintel and 6-panel door. Windows with segmental stone heads ground floor, and wood lintels above. Cottage to left (Keepers Cottage) has similar temple front. L-plan. One storey with attic. Side entrance with wood lintel and plank door. Stone segment headed window ground floor. C20 attic dormer. The kitchen garden had a central canal (now filled in) fed from the pond on the north side, part of a system of irrigation on the Edgcote estate.
