Description
Stockwell Farmhouse is a house that was originally a farmhouse, dated 1655, with alterations and extensions made in the 20th century. It is built from coursed ironstone rubble and features a reed thatch roof with stone end stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and is two stories high with a one-window range. The central entrance has a 20th-century door with a wooden lintel and a thatched hood supported by brackets. There are two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, each with wooden lintels. The gables are stone-coped and include kneelers. A datestone on the right gable end is inscribed with "1655/AP," though the rest is obscured. At the rear right, there is a two-story extension, along with another 20th-century extension. Inside, the farmhouse features spine beams and an open fireplace with a bressumer. There is also a corner fireplace in a first-floor room, which has a wooden lintel.
