Description
Manor House is a mid-17th century house located on Church Lane in Evenley. It is built from squared uncoursed limestone and ironstone, with ironstone dressings and an artificial stone slate roof, featuring brick stacks. The house has a T-plan layout, is two storeys high with an attic, and consists of three bays. The front is symmetrical, showcasing a central gabled porch that is two storeys tall. The stone doorway has a four-centred head and a square hood, with an original studded plank door. This is flanked by four-light stone mullioned windows, each with square hoods. The first floor has similar windows, but the one above the porch has three lights. Gabled dormers with wooden casements are present as well. At the rear, there is a gabled four-storey wing that features a 17th-century five-light window with a wooden lintel, moulded wooden mullions, and iron casements. Inside, there is a 17th-century stone fireplace with a four-centred arch in the ground floor room, along with two small straight-headed stone fireplaces from the same period in the bedrooms. The staircase is from the 20th century but is likely in its original central position.
