Description
Keepers Cottage is a game keeper's cottage dating from the late 17th century. It is built of squared coursed lias and features a thatched roof. The cottage has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. The front has a two-window range of casements with leaded lights and wooden lintels, along with a three-light stone mullion window on the ground floor to the left. The gabled roof is complemented by an ashlar gable parapet and kneelers. A mid-19th century brick porch with an arched head and a lancet window is present. To the left, there is a single-storey scullery from the 18th century, and to the right, a game pantry. A roof dormer is located at the rear. Inside, the ground floor south room features a bressumer and an arched head cupboard to the right with a curved back. There is a dogleg stair, and the first-floor rooms to the north have a fielded panelled dado. The roof includes collar trusses with butt purlins.
