Description
Lock number 13 on the Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal was built between 1812 and 1815 and has been restored in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a brick chamber and wing walls. The lock has a single top gate made of steel and wood, along with two sets of mechanical ground paddle gearing. Additionally, there are double bottom gates made of steel, equipped with two sets of mechanical gate paddle gearing. This lock is included for its group value with the nearby drawbridge and the Northampton flight of locks.
