Description
Manor Farmhouse is a house that was originally built as a farmhouse in the early 18th century. It underwent alterations and extensions in the early 19th century, with further changes made in the 20th century. The older part at the rear is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, while the front range features red brick in Flemish bond with flared headers. The building has slate roofs and brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge.
The house has a double-depth plan and is two stories high with a four-window range. There is a part-glazed door located to the left of the center, set within a rustic wood porch. The ground and first floors have 12-pane sash windows with rendered heads. The entrance bay slightly projects forward and is topped with a pedimental gable, and the eaves are deep and overhanging. The rear stone range has casement windows with wooden lintels.
Inside, the kitchen in the older range features a ceiling with a chamfered cross beam, an inglenook fireplace, and a fine fitted corner cupboard that has a coved scalloped head, a mask at the base of the scallop, and shaped shelves, all flanked by Tuscan pilasters supporting a full entablature. There is also an open well staircase with a ramped handrail.
