Description

A pair of cottages dating from around 1800 to 1822. They are built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with flared headers, and have graded slate roofs, brick ridge stacks, and lateral stacks. The cottages are two storeys and have an attic, presented as a three-window range. The central door and windows on the first and attic floors are blank, all featuring pointed arched heads. Single-storey flanking wings have lean-to roofs. There are two-light Gothick casement windows with pointed arched heads and timber Y-tracery. A central attic window is set within a pedimental gable. Deep overhanging eaves are present. Gabled brick porches are situated on the left and right sides providing entrances. These cottages are part of a group of four semi-detached cottages located on the south side of The Green, and were constructed as part of a model estate village for the 3rd Earl of Pomfret.
