Description

This cottage dates from approximately 1800 to 1822. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with flared headers, and has a graded slate roof and a brick ridge stack. The cottage is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window front. The central doorway is blocked and has a pointed arched head. There are two-light Gothick casement windows with timber Y-tracery; the window in the attic is within a pedimental gable. Deep, overhanging eaves are a notable feature. The cottage is one of a group of four detached cottages situated on the east side of The Green, intended as part of a model estate village. It was built for the 3rd Earl of Pomfret.
