Description
Nos. 6 and 7 on The Green are a pair of cottages built around 1800 to 1822. They are constructed from red brick in Flemish bond with flared headers and feature graded slate roofs, along with brick ridge and lateral stacks. The cottages are two storeys high with an attic and have a three-window range. The central door is blank, flanked by windows, while the first and attic floors have pointed arched heads. There are single-storey flanking wings with lean-to roofs. The cottages have 2-light Gothick casement windows with pointed arched heads and timber Y-tracery. A central attic window is set in a pedimental gable, and the deep overhanging eaves add to their character. There are entrances on the left and right sides, each with gabled brick porches. These cottages are part of a group of four semi-detached homes on the south side of The Green, which were built as part of a model estate village for the 3rd Earl of Pomfret.
