Description

This is a cottage, dating to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and ironstone to the left end wall, with the rest of the walls rendered over a possible timber frame. The roof is thatched, and it has brick end and ridge stacks. The building is in an "L" shape. Originally, it had a two-story, two-window front. A passage is located to the far right, with a wooden lintel, and a 20th-century door is positioned to the right of centre, featuring a rendered lintel and a 20th-century hood on brackets. There are two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors; the ground floor windows have continuous stop-chamfered wooden lintels, and the first-floor windows are set within eyebrow dormers. The first-floor window on the right-hand side is set at a higher level and has a beam at sill level. Quoins are present, and the left gable has an ironstone cope with kneelers, while the right gable has a brick cope. A full-height wing extends to the rear left and was extended again in the 20th century. The interior includes a chamfered spine beam with run-out stops, and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
