Description

This chest tomb, dated 1752, is located approximately 4 meters north of the chancel of the Church of St. George. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features panelled sides with angle balusters and a moulded lid topped with scrolls and a flaming urn. On the east face, there is a fragmentary inscription that reads, "Robert Pearne, died in Antigua in America in 17..7." The base contains another inscription stating, "At the bottom of this v..... The body of Will....l..ck. Many years the faithful servant of Robt Pearne," who died in 1752.
