Description
The Country Man Public House is an early 18th-century building that originally served as a house. It features coursed limestone and ironstone rubble with a tiled roof and brick stacks, arranged in an L-plan. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with three bays. A 20th-century stone porch is located in the second bay from the right, which includes a doorway with a rendered surround and a plank door. The windows, all featuring wood lintels that are now partly obscured by rendered surrounds, are fitted with 20th-century three-light wood casements. The gable ends are coped and have kneelers. At the rear, there is a wing extending from the right side, dating from the 18th to 19th century, constructed of squared coursed limestone and ironstone, with a slate roof and brick stacks. This wing also has two storeys and two bays, with three-light casement windows that have wood lintels. Inside, the building contains stop-chamfered spine beams, although most of the joists have been renewed.
