Description

Manor House is a 16th-century building, altered in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with ironstone dressings, and has plain tile roofs, with a large central stone stack. The building has a double-depth plan and is arranged over two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. The modern entrance front features a central 20th-century double door with a chamfered and moulded stone surround and a Tudor-arched head. A two-storey canted bay window is located to the right, incorporating hollow-chamfered stone mullions and hood moulds. There are 3-light leaded chamfered mullion windows to the ground, first, and attic floors on the left side. A similar window is present in the attic on the right side. Quoins are visible, along with a pair of stone-coped gables with kneelers to the front. A 20th-century single-storey extension is attached to the left. The rear elevation, which faces the garden, was refronted in the 18th century using red brick in Flemish bond, with flared headers. This side has a hipped roof, with slate tiles to the front slope, and three windows. A central 19th-century panelled door has an overlight and moulded wood surround. There are 12-pane sash windows to the ground and first floors, each with a gauged brick lintel and painted keyblocks. Brick-banded pilasters are present on either end, and to the left of the door, and there is a limestone plinth moulding. The interior features stop-chamfered spine beams, a collar truss roof, and a small stone cellar. The current front door is a 20th-century widening of what was originally a Tudor-arched doorway.
