Description
No. 1 Church End is a house that was formerly a manse, dated 1780, with 20th-century alterations. It is built of red brick featuring flared headers in Flemish bond, and has a concrete tile roof with brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in an L-plan with a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door topped by a fanlight and sheltered by a gabled hood on brackets. The ground and first floors have 12-pane sash windows with gauged brick lintels and limestone keyblocks. Additional architectural details include a storey band, dentilled brick eaves, and brick-coped gables with ironstone kneelers, along with three hipped dormers. At the rear right, there is a full-height wing adjacent to the lane, and a keystone dated 1780 is located above the central first-floor window at the back. The interior has not been inspected.
