Description
Elms Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and features a 20th-century plain-tile roof, along with brick end stacks that have stone bases. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a three-window range, and follows a two-unit central-staircase plan.
The central entrance consists of a four-panel door with a wooden lintel, set beneath a timber porch. This entrance is flanked by 19th-century horned sash windows that have segmental-arched heads. On the first floor, there are two-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows in the centre, with similar three-light windows on the left and right. To the left end of the farmhouse, there is a 19th-century two-storey cross wing, which is made of limestone and has a slate roof.
Inside, the farmhouse features bar-stop-chamfered spine beams and a collar-truss roof with wind-braced purlins. It is said to have an early 17th-century datestone on the rear, which is currently concealed by creepers.
