Description

This is a row of estate cottages located on Stratford Road, dating to 1832, although they may have older origins. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared limestone with a hipped slate roof and brick ridge stacks. They have a 10-window front, arranged over two storeys. A central doorway leads to a passage, featuring a round-arched head with imposts and a keyblock inscribed “HLM/1832”. Above the doorway is a panel, potentially from the 17th century, displaying a coat of arms. The windows are two-light casements with wood lintels on both ground and first floors. The central three bays project slightly and have a pedimented gable with an oculus window. Rear entrances are present. The interiors have not been inspected.
