Description

The Horse Tunnel is a late 18th-century aqueduct located on the Grand Union Canal in Cosgrove. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and red brick. The structure features a single arch that allows the canal to pass over a pedestrian right-of-way. The tunnel has a horseshoe-shaped vault and entrances, which are adorned with keyblocks and curved stone retaining walls that extend forward on either side.
