Description
A row of cottages, originally almshouses, was built in 1823 and altered in the 20th century. Constructed of local coursed squared limestone with a hipped slate roof and brick ridge stacks, the building retains a historic character. Modern doors with side lights and hood moulds are located to the left and right of the centre, and also at the extreme left and right. Ground-floor windows are 3-light casements with hood moulds, while first-floor windows are semi-circular with keyblocks. Each end of the row features a blank semi-circular first-floor window with a keyblock. The eaves overhang the facade. The interior has not been inspected. The row was formerly known as Carpenters Charity Houses, originally founded by Anthony Carpenter in 1642. The current doors were originally windows, with the original entrances situated at the rear.
