Description
The Old House is a house that likely dates from the early 16th century, with a datestone indicating 1687. It is constructed of squared coursed lias, featuring a timber frame with brick and cob infill panels, and has a corrugated metal roof. The building has a T-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall with a two-window range. To the left is a stone cross-wing, while a timber-framed wing extends at right angles. The left side has 19th-century casement windows, and the cross-wing features a 19th-century canted bay window with a three-light stone mullion above. A 20th-century door, located to the left of centre, has a 19th-century moulded wood surround. The cross-wing has ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks on the ridge and laterally. The right gable has been rebuilt in brick. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have an open fireplace and chamfered ceiling beams.
