Description
The Village Shop is a shop and house dating from the 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. It is constructed from coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, featuring limestone banded with ironstone in the right bay. The building has a slate roof and brick stacks. It stands two storeys tall and has three bays with light casement windows that have wood lintels in the left and right bays on both the ground and first floors. The central bay contains a 19th-century gabled shop extension, which is two storeys high with a whitewashed brick front, coursed limestone rubble sides, and a slate roof. The entrance features a half-glazed door in a plain wood frame with an overlight, alongside a bay window for the shop on the right, both situated under a continuous moulded wood cornice. On the first floor, there is a 2-light casement window with a wood lintel. Although the interior was not inspected, it is reported to have an open fireplace. The building is included for its group value.
