Description

The Wool House is an early 18th-century cottage with an attached 18th-century stone wall. The cottage is constructed of coursed squared ironstone, with a slate roof and brick and stone stacks. It has two storeys and three bays. The central doorway has a wood lintel and plank door, with two-light casement windows with wood lintels on either side. A three-light window with a wood lintel and an old iron casement is located on the first floor of the right bay, and a two-light casement window with a wood lintel and original wood mullion is in the centre. A 20th-century two-light casement window is in the left bay. The gable ends are coped with kneelers. The left side of the cottage has been rebuilt in brick. The interior was not inspected. The attached wall to the right is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with old tile coping. The wall is included in the listing for group value.
