Description
The steps, retaining walls, and terrace located approximately 35 meters northeast of the Manor House in Ashby St. Ledgers were designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens around 1909 to 1912. The structure features convex steps leading to a circular platform, from which there are descending flights that are both concave and convex, creating a second small round platform. Curved retaining walls flank either side of the steps. The walls are made of uncoursed limestone rubble topped with stone coping, while the steps themselves are constructed from limestone ashlar.
