Description
No. 25 West End is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century and further changes in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof with blue brick end stacks. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a three-window range.
The ground and first floors have 2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows in the centre, each with hood moulds, while similar 3-light windows are located on both the left and right sides. The house has quoins, chamfered brick eaves, and stone-coped gables with kneelers, along with a gabled roof dormer. The right gable end also features similar 3-light windows on both the ground and first floors, and there is a 2-light window in the attic. The left gable end includes two 1-light attic windows with moulded stone surrounds and hood moulds.
Access to the house is through a rear entrance located in a 20th-century two-storey extension. Inside, the property is noted for its chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
