Description

The Manor House is a manor house that dates from the mid 17th century to the 20th century. It is constructed of squared coursed lias and brick, featuring some chequer patterned sections, and has a slate roof. The building was originally likely designed in an E-plan, but this is now indeterminate.

The entrance front has a five-window range, with the two bays on the far left being from the 17th century, made of lias. The centre section projects forward and was originally designed as a porch. It features a six-light stone mullion window with a transom on the ground floor to the left, and two three-light stone mullion windows on the first floor. The gable parapets and kneelers are made of ashlar.

To the right, there is a three-window range that is probably late 18th century, with chequered brickwork. The far right has a six-light stone mullion window from the 19th century, and the centre has a 20th-century door with a 19th-century moulded stone surround and hood. There are also 19th-century dormers on the first floor. The house has tall brick stacks at the ridge and end.

The interior was remodelled in the early 20th century. The original 17th and 18th-century house underwent partial remodelling in 1893 and was reduced in size in the 1950s.
