Description
The White Horse is a public house located on Silverstone High Street. It dates from the mid-18th century but has origins from the late 17th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof and features stone end stacks that are raised in red brick. It has a two-unit plan and is two stories high with a three-window range.
The central entrance consists of a six-pane double-leaf door that has a moulded wood surround and a timber lintel. This door is flanked by canted bays, with one roof extending over the door. Above, there is a dentilled and moulded timber cornice. The first floor has two-light casement windows with stone lintels and keyblocks. To the right, there is a datestone inscribed C/IE/1684 with a moulded sill and a wrought-iron bracket for a sign above. The building features a plinth and quoins.
To the left, there is a one-window, two-story extension with a bay window, and a one-story extension at the far left. A large two-story extension to the right is not of special architectural interest. Inside, the building has stop-chamfered spine beams.
