Description
The chest tomb, located approximately 25 meters southeast of the Church of All Saints, commemorates members of the Botfield family, starting with Charlotte Botfield, who died in 1825. It is made of grey sandstone and features a low, large rectangular shape with space for three plaques on one long side and two on the shorter sides. The tomb is topped with a low pyramidal stone slabbed roof, which has a swagger urn with an oval domed top and a finial. The base of the urn is signed on the left side with "Baseley Daventry." Surrounding the tomb is a stone-paved enclosure, bordered by low walls and original cast-iron railings that have spear finials and urns on the standards. The Botfield family were Lords of the Manor from 1800 to 1863 and resided at Norton Hall, which was demolished in 1945.
