Description
The Limes is a house that has been converted into flats, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a slate roof. The building has an irregular T-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall. The main front has a four-window range of unhorned sash windows with glazing bars, all set under gauged stone heads. The ground and first-floor windows on the far right are blind. The 20th-century door has a reeded wood surround, and there is a raised string course between the floors. The cross wing to the left, likely from the mid-19th century, has no window. The left elevation features 19th-century casements and two panelled doors. At the rear, there is a gabled wing that breaks forward to the centre, which includes an early 20th-century bay window and ashlar gable parapets. Inside, the property has a staircase with stick balusters. There is also a datestone at roof level dated 1699, which is probably reset. The building is included for its group value.
