Description
No. 10 Church Lane is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid-17th century. It was refronted and altered around 1840. The building is constructed of ironstone with limestone dressings and brick, topped with slate roofs. It features coped gables and has four coped brick gable stacks. The layout is a double range plan with an off-centre near wing.
On the south side, there are four 6/6 sash windows on each floor, each with plain projecting surrounds. To the left, a setback rear range includes a glazed door, with a similar sash window above it. The double-gabled east side has a near-central two-leaf door, with a plain sash window to its right and two additional sashes above.
Inside, there is a single-stage 17th-century oak winder staircase featuring wavy splat balusters and a square newel post, along with an early 19th-century winder staircase that has stick balusters and a scrolled and ramped handrail.
