Description
Yeoman's House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from the early 17th century with late 19th-century additions. It is constructed from coursed and squared ironstone with limestone dressings and features thatched roofs. The building has coped gables with kneelers and a single stone ridge stack. It stands three storeys tall, plus garrets, and has an L-shaped plan with two bays.
The windows are primarily ovolo moulded stone mullioned casements with hood moulds. The southwest entrance includes a gabled stair tower to the left, which has a flat-headed doorway with a six-panel 19th-century door and a 20th-century flat hood. To the right of the entrance is a double casement window, with two triple casements above it. Further up, there is a triple casement to the left and a single casement above it.
The southeast front features a gabled wing to the left with a blocked doorway, and to its right is a four-light casement. Above this, there is a central triple casement on both the first and second floors, and a central single casement above that. To the right, there is a two-storey 19th-century hipped brick addition with two bays, which includes a hipped porch in the return angle and 20th-century windows.
On the street side, there is a large gable to the right, with two triple casements to the left. Above these, there is a double casement and another triple casement. In the gable, there is a smaller double casement, with a single casement above it.
Inside, the house features the top two flights of an oak spiral staircase and a corniced Tudor arched ashlar corner fireplace, both from the early 17th century. The interior also includes chamfered spine beams with ogee stops and moulded joists, as well as five moulded-edge plank doors.
