Description

Rectory Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse, later altered in the 19th century and now used as a house. It is constructed of ironstone and brick, with some roughcast rendering, and has thatched and slate roofs. The house has coped gables and two brick stacks on the ridge and two on the gables. It is originally a 2-bay building, now in a T-plan layout. The front (east) elevation has two late 19th-century square bay windows, and above these, two 19th-century triple casement windows. A rear wing on the north side has a deep, segmental-headed recess containing a 19th-century half-glazed door, flanked to the right by a 19th-century triple casement window. To the right of the door is a single-storey brick addition with a blocked window. Further to the left is the blank projecting gable of the original front range. In the return angle, there is a triple casement window with a wooden lintel. The south side has a further 2-storey, single-bay gabled wing.
