Description
No. 83 Huntingdon Road is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed limestone and has a concrete tile roof. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, the house is two storeys high and features a two-window range of casements with glazing bars, all set beneath wooden lintels. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with glazed toplights, topped by a wooden lintel and accompanied by an early 20th-century lattice porch. There is a brick stack at one end of the house and a lean-to extension at the rear.
Inside, the room to the left of the entrance contains the remains of an open fireplace with a boxed bressumer. The walls beside the fireplace and above the bressumer are decorated with Delft tiles, which have likely been reset. A winder stair is located to the right of the fireplace. The lean-to at the rear has a large stack. The deeds for the house date back to 1793.
