Description

This is a house, originally built in the mid-18th century and later altered in the late 19th century. It is now divided into two separate dwellings. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and brick with roofs of Collyweston slate, pantiles, and plain tiles. It was originally designed with an L-shaped plan. The main front has two storeys and an attic, with a six-window arrangement of sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath stop-chamfered wood lintels. A six-panel door sits to the left of the centre, above a cast-iron porch and featuring a rectangular fanlight with arch-head glazing bars, also under a wood lintel. Three hipped roof dormers are visible, each with a casement window. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks, with raised bands, are at the ends of the building.

A single bay, built in a similar style and likely added in the late 19th century, is attached to the left. A single-storey extension to the left of the main front features two late 19th century three-light windows with stone surrounds on the front elevation, and a sash window and a four-panel door on the return wall. It has ashlar parapets with ball finials and was originally used as a doctor’s surgery.

The rear elevation incorporates a central, gabled porch dating from the 19th century, and an arch-head stair window to the right. A rear wing features a two-window range of sash windows with glazing bars, under gauged stone heads. A two-storey brick and stone extension, attached to the rear wing and featuring a pantile roof, has a two-window range of arch-head sash windows.

The interior was not inspected for listing purposes but is noted to have panelled window reveals.
