Description

This is a house, later used as a shop and flats, dating from the mid-18th century with alterations in the 19th century. The exterior is of squared coursed limestone and brick, with some rendered sections, and a plain-tile roof. The building follows a T-shaped plan and has two and three storeys. The front elevation, facing the street, has a three-window arrangement at the first floor with unhorned sash windows, featuring glazing bars and set beneath wooden lintels. A late 19th or early 20th century shop front has been modified and includes canted sides and central glazed doors. An arch-headed entrance leads to a passage running through the building, located to the right of the shop front. The front is finished with ashlar gable parapets that include kneelers along the party wall line. A three-storey rear wing was remodelled in the 20th century. The building is included on the listing for its group value.
