Description

The Farmhouse, now a house, dates back to 1626, with substantial rebuilding and extensions in the 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and brick, with a slate roof, and follows a T-shaped plan. The main front has three windows and a gabled cross-wing projecting to the right. The cross-wing section is original from the 17th century. A 19th-century canted wooden bay window sits on the ground floor of the cross-wing, and a 19th-century casement window is set within a 17th-century moulded stone surround on the first floor. An original 17th-century two-light stone mullion window, with ovolo mouldings and hood moulds, is located in the attic. The left return of the cross-wing features a single-light window on the ground floor, now blocked, set in a 17th-century moulded stone surround, with a similar two-light stone mullion window above. The three-window range to the left is from the 19th century, featuring casement windows beneath stone lintels with keyblocks. A datestone is visible at the apex of the gable. Brick stacks are present at the ridge and at the gable apex. The right-hand elevation has three windows arranged irregularly and featuring 20th-century casements under renewed wooden lintels. A gabled porch with bargeboards, dating from the 19th century, is situated on the right side. 19th-century extensions are present to the rear, and a section of the rear wall of the 19th-century range is constructed of brick. Inside, a room on the first floor of the cross-wing has stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. A corner of the property incorporates an earlier structure.
