Description
This building is a barn located approximately 25 meters northwest of Leighton House, likely dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a brick facade with limestone and ironstone gables, topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. Originally, it was probably a coachhouse with stables on either side and a hayloft above.
The front elevation includes a central carriage entrance with 20th-century doors set within a moulded stone arch. This arch is flanked by panelled pilasters that are topped with urns, and it has a central ribbed keyblock. To the left, there is a tall opening with 20th-century doors, which likely served as combined stable and hayloft doors, featuring an arched head with a plain stone surround and a ribbed keyblock. The right side has a 20th-century door with a shallow arched head and keyblock. There are also remnants of ashlar gable parapets and kneelers on the left side, along with a 19th-century lean-to at the rear.
