Description
The wall and attached summer house at Apethorpe Palace are located at the southwest corner of the Orangery and extend approximately 170 meters south. The wall likely dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, while the summer house was built in the early 20th century, probably designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield. The structure features squared coursed limestone and brick walls, with the summer house made of limestone ashlar. The wall, which is attached to the west of the Orangery, runs at right angles to the summer house and is constructed of stone, while the wall running south of the summer house is made of brick. The summer house includes a triple arcade of semi-circular arches adorned with diamond keyblocks. Additionally, there is an 18th-century gateway in the brick wall that is likely a reset feature.
