Description
The pond in the sunken garden at Apethorpe Palace, built around 1905, was designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield for Lord Brassey. It features an ashlar stone surround with a moulded edge, enclosing a rectangular pond that has outward curving sections on its shorter sides. This pond is an important part of the overall design, forming a significant group with the sunken garden terrace and other features surrounding the house. The gardens at Apethorpe are recognized in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade II.
