Description
No. 2 Newton Way is a former public house, originally known as the Sun Inn, built in 1768. The building is constructed of brick, which has been whitewashed, and features a rubble plinth and a slate roof. Architectural details include a first-floor band, cogged eaves, and brick coped gables. The structure has two gable stacks and a single ridge stack. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays. The front of the building has an off-centre beaded six-panel door, with the top two panels being glazed. To the left of the door is a plain sash window, and to the right is a small glazing bar casement flanked by single plain sashes. All these windows and the door have segmental heads. Above the door, there are three two-light casements of varying sizes. The blank west gable features a datestone inscribed with 'W J L 1768' above.
