Description
Bleak House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid 17th century. It was repaired in 1741 and has a late 19th-century addition. The building is constructed from coursed squared ironstone with limestone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. It has coped gables with kneelers and a single central coped quadruple stone stack. The house is two storeys plus attics and has three bays with a baffle entry plan.
The south front features a central plain stone doorcase with a 20th-century glazed door, flanked by single three-light casements. Above the door, there is a small central casement and to its right, a coped datestone inscribed 'Rep'd 1741 - J H'. There are three-light casements on each side of the datestone. Each gable has a central three-light casement on both floors and a similar two-light casement in the attic. The rear of the house has two two-light casements above. There is also a two-storey brick addition from the 19th century to the west. The interior has not been inspected.
