Description
Bridge House is a farmhouse and adjoining cottage, now a house, dating from the mid-18th century with later 18th-century additions, incorporating elements of an earlier building. The structure is primarily brick with squared ironstone detailing, and has gabled and hipped Welsh slate roofs. It features rebated eaves and three brick stacks on the side walls and gables. The main three-storey, three-bay range has a central reeded wooden doorcase with a hood on brackets. This shelters a five-panel door, flanked by single three-light casement windows. Above the door, a central two-light casement is flanked by single three-light casements. A further level features a central blank panel flanked by smaller casements. All the casements have mullions and transoms, with segmental brick heads. To the left of the main range is a two-bay cottage with a single iron-framed, leaded casement window, which has a wooden lintel. To the right, there is a blocked door, and above it, a smaller similar casement window. To the left again is a 19th-century outbuilding with a large, multi-pane casement window. A mid-18th century north-west wing has two late 18th-century mullioned casements. To the left of these, is a blocked door, and to the right a pair of 20th century sliding doors. Above, a three-light casement window with a central iron-framed, leaded light is positioned to the left.
