Description

The entrance gateway to Boughton House and the wall attached to the east is an early 18th-century structure with later additions. It is constructed from limestone, featuring ashlar and coursed rubble. The gateway has a rusticated pedimented screen that projects forward at both ends. There is a round-headed opening with a Britannia fire-mark above it. On either side of the gateway, there are lower flat-roofed blocks that include cornices, rusticated corner pilasters, and four loop lights. The wall that connects the gateway to the stables has a tiled coping.
