Description
Numbers 21 and 23 are a pair of almshouses built in the early 19th century for Elizabeth Hutcheson's Charity, with alterations made in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed from squared coursed limestone and topped with a Collyweston slate roof. They originally had a two-unit plan and are single storey. The front features a five-window range of 20th-century casements, which are set beneath shallow arch heads. The central entrance is recessed and includes a 20th-century door and window. The gable parapets and kneelers on the left are made of ashlar, and there are ashlar stacks at each end. An attached outbuilding on the right has a leaded casement window, with a shallow stone arch and a four-panel door to the left, also under a similar arch head. The interior has not been inspected. This listing is included for its group value.
