Description
This is a house located at 8 The Green in Weston-by-Welland, dating from the mid-17th century, with additions from the early and late 18th century and the 19th century. It is constructed of lias ashlar and has a slate roof. The house features a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic. The front has a three-window range, including two 17th-century six-light canted stone mullion bays on the left and a four-light stone mullion window on the first floor to the right. Below, there is a 19th-century replacement casement window set in a 17th-century opening. To the left of the centre, there is a panelled door framed by a 17th-century moulded stone surround with a four-centred arch head, and the base has a plinth. The gable ends are adorned with ashlar parapets and kneelers, and there is a large brick and stone chimney stack at the ridge. The front elevation was raised in the late 18th century. At the rear, there is an early 18th-century projecting wing and a two-light stone mullion window. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to have ceiling beams and an open fireplace.
